Wedding Celebrant FAQs: Sunshine Coast and Noosa

Planning a wedding comes with plenty of questions. Here are answers to the ones couples ask me most. If yours isn't here, send me a message and I'll happily help.

Planning and booking

How much does a wedding celebrant cost on the Sunshine Coast?

My packages are Legals Only ($450 + GST), Elopement ($750 + GST), Full Ceremony ($950 + GST) and Celebrant + MC ($1850 + GST). Prices apply to weddings held during 2026 and 2027. Public holiday, accommodation, parking and ferry fees may apply where required.

How far in advance should we book a celebrant?

As soon as you have a date and a rough idea of location. Popular Saturdays in spring and autumn book out early, and your Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before the wedding, so it's best not to leave it too late.

Do you travel to Noosa and the hinterland?

Yes. I'm based on the Sunshine Coast and marry couples from Noosa and Peregian down to Caloundra and up into Maleny, Montville and the rest of the hinterland. Travel within 50 km driving distance of postcode 4560 is included, and additional travel fees may apply outside this area. I'll always confirm any travel costs upfront.

Which days are you available?

My Legals Only package is available Sunday to Thursday. For other packages, just get in touch with your preferred date and I'll let you know if I'm available.

Legal requirements

What is a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)?

It's the legal form that tells your celebrant you intend to marry. It must be lodged with your celebrant at least one month (and up to 18 months) before your wedding date. I'll walk you through filling it in and prepare all the paperwork for you.

What documents do we need to get married in Australia?

You'll each need evidence of your date and place of birth (such as a birth certificate or passport) and photo ID. If either of you has been married before, you'll also need evidence that the previous marriage has ended, such as a divorce certificate or death certificate. Documents not in English need an approved translation.

Can we get married in less than one month?

Only in limited circumstances, with approval from a prescribed authority. If your timeline is tight, contact me as soon as possible and we'll look at your options.

How many witnesses do we need?

Two witnesses, who must be 18 or older. They'll sign the marriage certificates with you on the day.

Is the certificate from our ceremony enough to change my name?

The certificate you sign on the day is a commemorative keepsake. For changing your name and other official purposes, you'll need the official marriage certificate from the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, which you can order once your marriage has been registered.

What has to be said for the ceremony to be legal?

A few things must be included: my statement of authority as your celebrant and the legal vows you say to each other. Everything else, from your story to readings and rituals, is completely up to you.

Ceremonies and locations

Do we need a permit for a beach or park wedding?

Usually, yes. Ceremonies in council parks and on beaches need a permit from Noosa Council or Sunshine Coast Council, and national park locations need approval from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. Private venues handle their own bookings. See my Noosa wedding celebrant page for Noosa-specific tips.

Can we write our own vows?

Absolutely. In my Full Ceremony package I offer guidance and support with writing personal vows, and personal vows can be included in an elopement too.

Can family and friends be involved?

Yes. Readings, rituals, ring warmings, a special welcome or a moment to remember loved ones are all lovely ways to involve the people who matter most. I'm happy to share ideas.

What happens if it rains?

For any outdoor ceremony, have a wet weather plan, such as an undercover area at your venue or a nearby backup location. I'll work with you and your venue so the ceremony runs smoothly either way.

Do you bring a PA system?

Yes. A professional PA system and wireless microphone are included in my Full Ceremony and Celebrant + MC packages, so every guest can hear every word.

Can you MC our reception too?

Yes. My Celebrant + MC package means one familiar face guides your celebration from the ceremony through to the reception.

Do you offer rehearsals?

Rehearsals can be arranged for an extra fee. Just let me know when we're planning your ceremony.

Where can we get married on the Sunshine Coast?

Almost anywhere: beaches, parks, national parks, private venues or your own backyard. Browse my Sunshine Coast wedding venue guide, or see my pages for Noosa and the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
